COVID-19 Response

Last Updated: February 15th, 2021 at 12:22pm

The health and safety of our community takes priority. We are a student organization who must abide by what the Quinnipiac University COVID-19 Task Force enforces to keep our community members safe. The university is currently in a Yellow Alert status. All events can continue with caution at this time. For more information on what Quinnipiac is doing and how they are tracking the spread of COVID-19, please click here.

The Summit is happy to be able to provide senior photos for the Class of 2021 at this time. We are currently working with Lauren Studios to ensure priority sign-ups are given to seniors who registered last semester for a session but were canceled due to Quinnipiac’s early dismissal of on-campus operations. This is a time sensitive project, and those seniors will have a limited window of time to ensure they select a session. All communication regarding direct sign-ups will come from Lauren Studios.

The Summit Yearbook anticipates on having additional in-person senior portraits throughout the semester (pending campus COVID status of course) and is working hard with both Lauren Studios and Quinnipiac to provide dates for you to schedule an appointment on campus later this semester. Please refer to our FAQ page for further clarification.

Communication sent out February 15th, 2021 to Remote Seniors:

Good Morning Bobcats!

The Summit Yearbook is excited to offer alternative options for our remote seniors for the Spring 2021 semester. Please be sure to read the entirety of this email as it pertains to both options and important reasoning around why we are unable to invite you onto campus for portraits this spring.

Remote learning pertains to online class instruction with no in person classes on your schedule; per Quinnipiac COVID policy, regardless of distance from campus, if you declared remote learning and not participating in the on-ground campus testing then you are not able to have your senior portrait taken on campus. That said, we’re still of course hoping to include you in the yearbook!

Below are two options for remote learners to have their senior portraits taken and given the opportunity to be in the 2020-21 Summit Yearbook:

Option 1: Send in a senior portrait submission from home

  • Dress Code: We ask that all seniors at minimum follow business casual guidelines for the portrait.
  • Please submit senior portraits directly to our email: Yearbook@quinnipiac.edu and be sure to enter your full name in the subject line.

Option 2: Take your senior portrait at another studio

All Bobcats are welcome to submit their own professional photos to The Summit at any time. With this options, students are responsible for selecting their own studio location and arranging payment for the services offered there. Once you have a portrait selected please submit it to yearbook@quinnipiac.edu. Be sure your selected studio follows these instructions for ideal portrait and submission guidelines:

  • The photo must be a portrait or vertical photo (preferably 3×4 aspect ratio)
  • Make sure that the photo is taken in the highest resolution possible, minimum 300 dpi
  • The positioning of the photo should be from your shoulders up with space above your head; full body shots or selfies are not allowed
  • Be sure to take your photo in good lighting and a plain background
  • Your photo must be in JPEG, PNG, or TIFF format
  • Due to the current circumstances, we ask at minimum that you dress business casual for the photo. You may incorporate a black graduation gown and cap if your studio provides those materials.
  • If photo is taken at another studio, you MUST include a copyright release from the professional photographer
  • You MUST include your name EXACTLY as you want it to appear in the yearbook

Please visit the FAQ’s section of our yearbook website @ quyearbook.com

* To ensure that we are answering all questions promptly, please send all your questions or concerns directly to Yearbook@quinnipiac.edu for a faster response.*

We appreciate your continued patience and understanding during these times. The Summit Yearbook team remains optimistic for the Spring semester – stay safe and healthy Bobcats!

We must postpone Senior Portraits until further notice due to Quinnipiac moving to the “Alert Level: Red” status to help contain COVID-19. We are deeply saddened to have to postpone this event, however must follow what the QU Task force recommends as the health and safety of our community is always a top priority. We are aware that many Bobcats will be graduating this winter and, while we are not allowed to offer on campus portraits at this time, we have identified a few alternatives:

  • The positioning of the photo should be from your shoulders up with space above your head; full body shots or selfies are not allowed
  • Be sure to take your photo in good lighting and a plain background
  • Dress in business attire; examples include jacket and tie, business suit, or a blouse with sleeves; dress as if you were attending an interview and avoid casual clothing
  • Your photo must be in JPEG, PNG, or TIFF format
  • If photo is taken at another studio, you MUST include a copyright release from the professional photographer
  • You MUST include your name EXACTLY as you want it to appear in the yearbook

If you are graduating in May 2021: We are working with Quinnipiac and Lauren Studios to ensure sessions in the Spring semester. This is of course pending the status of the COVID-19 restrictions. At this time, we are hopeful that we can proceed with providing portraits for next semester. That said, we are anticipating the same parameters as this Fall: Only seniors who live on campus, commute to campus for work or class can attend. As of today, we have no updates for any other populations, for example, seniors who are 100% remote learners. Due to the uncertainty of what next semester could hold, the options listed above are also open to those graduating in May and all seniors completing the semester completely online. If you are graduating this December, this section does not apply to you.

We appreciate your continued patience and understanding during these times. The Summit Yearbook team remains optimistic for the Spring semester – stay safe and healthy Bobcats!
